Perhaps THC and opiates don’t mix, after all

July 7, 2009 § Leave a comment

A recent article published in the journal “Neuropsychopharmacology,” researchers found that maternally-deprived rats, highly dosed with THC over-time, were less susceptible to morphine dependence than their maternally-deprived counterparts.  It appears that on multiple fronts–behaviorally, biochemically, and molecular biological data–rats doped up on THC are unlikely to become opiate dependent.  The full article is $, but the abstract is free.

Anecdotally, we see few folks on the unit with a history of simultaneous opiate and cannabis use. Hhhmm.
